Google Analytics 4 got another update — new real-time report — Realtime pages. Now we can in a new way track pages that users have visited in the last 30 minutes. The report provides data on the number of active users and the number of pages viewed in real time, which allows to react faster to visitor behavior and make prompt decisions.
Let’s take a look at this report and what what information does it contain. The new real-time report looks like this:
Note: If you don’t have this report in your Google Analytics account, don’t worry, it will appear over time. Google updates Google Analytics accounts gradually.
As you can see, Realtime pages report contains these elements:
- A tile with the total number of active users and page views in the last 30 minutes.
- A bar chart showing active users in the last 30 minutes.
- A table showing the number of active users and page views by Page path and Screen class dimention.
In fact, it is good news that it is now possible to view viewed pages in real time, because the Google Analytics 4 Realtime overview report provide information about viewed pages only by Page Title dimention, and even in a not very convenient format:
By the way, for people who have worked with Universal Analytics, the Realtime pages report may remind the Realtime overview report in Universal Analytics:
However, as in the Universal Analytics, and in the Google Analytics 4, this report lacks the “Events” field. It would be convenient to view the events that are processed on individual pages. Let’s hope that Google does not stop there and continues to make useful updates to Google Analytics 4.
